Connecticut Radio Fellowship Board President Drew Crandall recently announced that Allison Demers, one of Connecticut’s most recognized and experienced radio personalities, has joined WIHS 104.9 FM as Faith & Ministry News Director and Afternoon Drive-time Host effective August 3, 2026. Her on-air shift will be Monday through Friday from 2 to 6 pm.
A Waterbury native and resident of Litchfield County, Demers brings to WIHS 30 years of radio and television experience in Connecticut, starting in 1996 as news bureau chief, news reporter, sports reporter and morning drive traffic reporter with MetroNetworks in Hartford. In 1998, she became morning show co-host and newscaster of “The Glenn Beck Show with Vinnie Penn” on WKCI 101.3 FM in Hamden. In 2000, she became a morning show personality on the “Allan, Mike and Allison Show,” news director and public affairs director at “Lite” WRCH 100.5 FM in Farmington. In 2013, she joined WTIC 1080 AM in Farmington as fill-in newscaster, traffic reporter, social media and website coordinator. In 2015, she became a morning show co-host on “Tom Chute and You” and news director at WATR 1320 AM in Waterbury. In 2017, she joined the Archdiocese of Hartford Office of Radio and Television (ORTV) in Waterbury as television co-host and reporter for “Crossroads Magazine” and an on-air announcer on WJMJ 88.9 FM. Most recently, Allison served as lifestyle reporter for CT Buzz and co-host of “Fuch’s Financial” on WTNH -TV 8 in New Haven and as an on-air host, public service director, director of programming, and host of the “Community Access” show on “The River” WHCN 105.9 FM in Hartford. She was laid off at iHeart Media in April due to company budget reductions.
In making the announcement, Drew said, “I’ve known Allison for decades and highly respect her as a broadcasting professional and admire her as a long-time, committed Christian. I believe that she will be an outstanding addition to the WIHS staff.”
Allison announced her new appointment while serving as emcee of WIHS’ Saints & Patriots celebration at the WIHS Amphitheater on July 25, and will be on the air “live” during the WIHS remote broadcast of the For King & Country concert at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport on Thursday, July 30.
“I love the Lord and people,” says Allison, “so to me, this isn’t work, it’s ministry. I’m grateful for and enthused about this opportunity to minister in my home state through WIHS.”
WIHS recently hired Meriden resident Iviana Bynum as Outreach & Event Coordinator. In this role, Bynum will serve as an important link between WIHS and churches, programmers, listeners, donors and other partners.
Iviana was born on Manhattan, New York and served in the children’s choir at Times Square Church. Her family then moved to Connecticut, where she graduated from Maloney High School. She holds a Bachelor of Political Science from Southern Connecticut State University and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
She has extensive experience in bi-lingual English and Spanish marketing communications as a photographer, writer, editor, designer, digital content creator, podcast host and producer, public speaker, community coordinator and educator. Iviana worships and serves as Youth Ministry Operations Lead at Grace Fellowship Church in Meriden. Her “Eyes Up” segment is frequently posted on the WIHS Facebook page, and she serves as the host of Ministry Roundtable and Grace for Breakfast.
In making the announcement, WIHS General Manager Matt Harper said, “In recent years, WIHS has significantly expanded its in-person relationship-building across Connecticut. Iviana will greatly augment these efforts. We are thrilled to have her on the WIHS team.”
